Delicious and quick pastries simply made with a slice of apple, a touch of apricot preserve, a dash of cinnamon and flaky puff pastry

Looking for a delicious, pretty, and super easy dessert that is ready in no time?!?

Look no further. These apple puff pastries are precisely what you're looking for.

They are super yummy, especially if you're anything like me and just loooove dessert that tastes like apple pie with that cinnamon flavor and a flaky and perfectly crispy pastry.

And, this recipe is quick and simple. It only requires very few ingredients.  And you end up with an impressively beautiful and delicately delicious dessert.

It goes without saying that I love apple desserts.
My apple rosesapple crostataclassic apple pieapple crumblericotta and apple cakesoft and moist apple cake ... Ok, ok. You got me.
But what's not to love about healthy, naturally sweet and juicy apples wrapped in buttery and crispy pastry?!?
Wholesome and comforting. The aroma of the apples mixed with cinnamon will make your kitchen smell like the holidays.
The best!

For this recipe I'm using store-bought puff pastry, to make things quick and easy.

You certainly can use homemade puff pastry if you have the time. But as much as I love puff pastry desserts, it's one of the few things I don't have the patience for.

To make the pastries, all you need to do is cut the pre-rolled pastry into squares.

I got 12 squares about 3.5 inches each. But the size should be based on the size of your apple.

I used a sheet of parchment paper, folded to the size I needed. And used it to cut the puff pastries into squares. Like this!

Now what you need to do is make an L-shaped cut about 5 mm thick on each corner. Like this...

Spread some preserve in the middle and top with an apple slice.

I used apricot preserve, but any really works (fig, peach, strawberry, blueberry ...). Your choice!

Sprinkle with as little or as much cinnamon as you wish. Fold the four corners up to the middle and place a blueberry or a raspberry if you prefer to secure in place.

Brush the puff pastry with milk or egg wash, and sprinkle with sparkling sugar if you like.

Bake for about 25 minutes at 350F until puffy and perfectly golden.

Ready to try it too?!?

Easy to make with very few ingredients, quick, and oh-so-delicious pastries simply made with a slice of apple, a dash of cinnamon and flaky puff pastry

Ingredients

  • 1 large roll puff pastry, cut into squares (slightly bigger than your apple slice).
  • 3 large apples, peel and cut into slices
  • about 1/4 cup apricot preserve
  • cinnamon to taste
  • 12 blueberries (or raspberries)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (or 1 egg) for brushing
  • crystalized sugar or powdered sugar, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F (190C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the apples and cut into thick slices crosswise: slice an extra thin sliver from the top and bottom of the apple and slice into about 4 slices each apple. Remove the core with a round cookie cutter.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry if needed (mine is pre-rolled). Cut into squares slightly bigger than your apple slices (mine are 3.5-inch). Make an L-shaped cut on each corner (about 5 mm from the edge).
  4. Spread 1 teaspoon of apricot preserve in the middle of each square. Top each with an apple slice and sprinkle with cinnamon if you like. Fold up the four corners to the middle and secure with a blueberry (or raspberry if you prefer).
  5. Brush the top of the puff pastry with milk or egg wash. Sprinkle with crystallized sugar. And bake at 375F (190C) for about 25 minutes until golden and puffy on top. Let cool down, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and enjoy!
